Ann Arbor Summer Art Fairs scheduled for July 21-24

The Summer Art Fairs will take place between July 21-24.

The Art Fair was started in 1960 on South University Street. (note from the Innkeeper - yes I am old enough to say that I was involved in the first Art Fair as a booth set up volunteer - time travels rather quickly).

The fair has now grown to encompass most of the downtown and campus areas and the annual attendance soars above 500,000. Attendees are drawn by the exceptionally fine quality and diversity of the fine arts presentations and the presenters are drawn from across the United States. All of the Art Fairs are free.

While the fair is huge, the fact is that guests can wander freely from one street to another and the distance between the various Art Fairs is minimal. Parking can be a little difficult but shuttle buses can be used from outlying parts of Ann Arbor. (Since guests of the Lamp Post Inn are so close they normally walk to the fair but if you don't want to walk or drive, you can always take the bus #4 that passes our door and arrives at the first Art Fair in less than 5 minutes. It will cost $1.25.)

The University of Michigan Summer Football Camp

Coach Rodriguez has announced The University of Michigan Football Camp for high school players will be held June 19-22nd. The football camp will offer instruction in all positions of football. It will also include a special emphasis on proper weight training and conditioning, inspirational talks and highlight videos of the Michigan Wolverines and NFL.

Coach Rodriguez and his staff will also host two other similar football camps, the youth camp for grades 6- 8, from June 26-28th ; and the University of Michigan Kicking Camp on June 12 and 13

The camps will be held at the University of Michigan facilities including the new Glick Indoor Field House. Camp and practices will take place on the Michigan football practice fields, both indoor and outdoor, and will also include a visit to the Big House. The University of Michigan Spring Football Game Scehduled

The University of Michigan Wolverines will play the spring football game on Saturday, April 17, 2010. The general public will be able to enter the stadium (The Big House) at 10:00 AM and the game will begin at 1:00 PM. Prior to the spring game an alumni tag game will take place at 11:00 AM .

The Wolverines are hoping to match or exceed the number of fans that attended last year, estimated at 50,000.

The San Francisco Symphony to perform March 18th at Hill Auditorium

The University Musical Society has announced that the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra will perform on the stage of Hill Auditorium on March 18th, 2010.
