Filmmaking Pioneer Bruce Baillie in Attendance for 50th
We are proud to announce a special appearance by renowned avant-garde filmmaker Bruce Baillie at the 50th festival. Baillie will be one of our honored guest returning to Ann Arbor to present three programs of his work as part of our 50th celebration.
In 1963 Baillie's worked screened with a partial retrospective during the first year of a festival. A pioneer of the American avant-garde film movement, Baillie will discuss his work and his influence on film culture with the AAFF audience.
The 82 year-old is most well known as the founder of Canyon Cinema distribution and co-creator of the San Francisco Cinematheque, an acclaimed series of experimental film, digital media, and performance cinema that continues to this day.

Michigan Wolverine Spring Football Game April 14, 2012

The University of Michigan Athletic Department has announced the Spring Game for the Wolverines.   The date is April 14 with activities beginning at noon at The Big House (University of Michigan Stadium).

This will be the second spring football game for Coach Hoke as his staff and players showcase their early spring skills.  After this year's 11-2 record and Sugar Bowl victory, enthusiasm is particularly high with many of the fans and alumni see as the return of the "old" Michigan.  The rich heritage and roots of University of Michigan football program have been returned to The Big House.

Fans are also looking forward to seeing Denard Robinson as he prepares for his final year at Michigan.   National analysts have already listed Robinson as an early Heisman Trophy candidate.  Last year his lighting speed combined with the new offense installed by the coaching staff to create an electrifying year.    Additional attention will be focused on the highly touted defense which reemerged as a dominant force for the Wolverines, something they had been lacking in the last several years.

Winter Classic coming to Ann Arbor, January 1, 2013

The University of Michigan will be the site of the January 1, 2013 National Hockey League Winter Classic it was reported today in mlive.com.

The game will feature the Detroit Red Wings versus the Toronto Maple Leafs.  Details are still be worked out but the stadium is a logical choice given the success of it's previous outdoor game which included 104,000 fans.

The Red Wings lobbied to have the game at Comerica Park, but the NHL couldn’t pass up an opportunity to hold this annual outdoor spectacle at "The Big House," where it is expected to attract a record crowd in excess of 110,000. To appease Red Wings owner Mike Ilitch, a rink will be constructed at Comerica Park. The home of the Detroit Tigers will host other events leading up to the Winter Classic, including the alumni game and possibly the Great Lakes Invitational.

Restaurant Week in Ann Arbor - Special hotel rates available

Denis Matsuev to perform in Ann Arbor - Special hotel rates
