Ron Ashton Tribute with Iggy Pop and Henry Rollins

The Michigan Theater will host a special tribute to Ron Ashton, long time Ann Arbor resident who died at his home in 2009. The tribute will be hosted by Iggy Pop (Stooges).

Wikipedia notes -- The Stooges (also known as Iggy and The Stooges) is an American rock band from Ann Arbor, Michigan first active from 1967 to 1974, and later reformed in 2003. Although they sold few records in their original incarnation and often performed for indifferent or hostile audiences, the Stooges are widely regarded as instrumental in the rise of punk rock, as well as influential to alternative rock, heavy metal

and rock music at large. The Stooges were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2010.

The tribute will include several other guests including singer - songwriter Henry Rollins. The

Dexter - Ann Arbor Run - June 5, 2011

The Dexter - Ann Arbor Run will be held June 5, 2011. The annual event sponsored by the Ann Arbor Track Club attracts national attention and this year will feature Gold Medal Olympian, Frank Shorter. This is the 38th version of the run which is particularly noted for its natural running environment.
